Remember a year ago when you had to scrub every door knob, menu, faucet, and pen or risk getting COVID?

well the CDC, who told you to do all those things, now say it is unnecessary as you have less than 1 in 10,000 chance of getting a coronavirus from a surface. Trust the science

oops Shush()*

The risk of getting a COVID-19 infection from contaminated surfaces is extremely low, according to updated guidance published Monday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

"It is possible for people to be infected through contact with contaminated surfaces or objects (fomites), but the risk is generally considered to be low," the agency said.

The principal mode by which people are infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus is through exposure to respiratory droplets, the CDC said. While not impossible, the agency said the risk of infection through fomites is "generally less than 1 in 10,000."

The CDC guidance, coming more than a year into the pandemic, is the strongest argument yet against what some critics have dubbed "hygiene theater."

"There is little scientific support for routine use of disinfectants in community settings, whether indoor or outdoor, to prevent SARS-CoV-2 transmission from fomites," the agency said. "In public spaces and community settings, available epidemiological data ... indicate that the risk of SARS-CoV-2 transmission from fomites is low—compared with risks from direct contact, droplet transmission or airborne transmission."

I see people every day who either elbow their way through doors, or use some form of handiwipe or something to grasp door handles. They've managed to scare the crap out of a lot of people.

Not me. But if you wanna be paranoid be my guest. False paranoia.

To be honest, it's a good idea to disinfect hands and wipe commonly touched surfaces to protect from other stuff. Bacteria is still everywhere and covid aside, I enjoyed not getting sick this past year when i probably would've had 2-3 colds that annoyingly linger for like a month.

I like it

Nothing wrong with people washing their hands with soap, using deoderant, not leaving the house if they dont feel well, wearing masks if they dont feel 100%, taking showers, using clean products, etc

Yet we'll still see some people flush a toilet and not wash their hands and touch the bathroom door handle to leave the restroom. My apologies if i dont want to touch that handle with my bare hands

Yes, this is the process intelligent people follow.

When there is new information, or the understanding of a situation evolves, intelligent people modify their opinions and advice. AKA "change their minds".

Others who are threatened by their own fear and insecurity that they may be wrong, doggedly stick to their original position and find excuses to justify
their inability to learn from new information.

Unfortunately ignorant, loud and irrational people can not understand or interpret these facts properly because they are blinded by their own selfish wants/gains or guided by their political agenda.

Who's stupid enough to think that anyone is perfectly right in everything 100% of the time.
